Can I have my 540i resprayed in BMW F1 livery?
Discussion
My 12-year-old 540i could do with a new coat of paint, and rather than just have it done in the same Orient Blue, I wondered if I could do something mad and (somehow) create an authentic adaptation of the 2007 series F1 design

I know it sounds daft but I'm interested in doing it
So can it be done (legally?)
and who the hell could/would do it?

Well, it's your car, so you can do whatever you want to it... A proper respray as per your idea would probably cost more than what the car is worth. Are you really that keen on doing it?
I know the cost would be higher than the car, and I know to most it will seem ridiculous. But yes, I'm keen on doing it. I was wondering about the legal implications of putting other company logos on the car without their permission
Hmmm
Not sure about the F1 colours, they're pretty boring and kinda designed to be put on an F1 car. I doubt it would be obvious what they are on a big lump like a road car.
It might be better (not to mention more appropriate) to try something like the AC Schnitzer racing colours, specifically the late-ninties checker design.
