I fancy a 335i...

Good day all.
I am giving serious consideration to acquiring a 335i manual saloon and I am curious as to the actual real-world mpg figures. I note that the latest version of this engine has claimed figures of 31mpg combined and 218g of CO2, which compares favourably with my current steed, a Focus ST with actual mpg of around 20-22 (
) and 224g of C02.
On a related note, I see that the latest 330i, despite putting out 272bhp, does over 39mpg combined! How on earth have they achieved that?! Truly impressive figures and I haven’t ruled one of these out due to the potential savings on purchase & fuel.
Finally, I have a preference for the SE version because I actually prefer the discreet looks – I find the M-Sport saloon to look a bit clunky. Am I alone in this? I reckon a debadged 335 SE on standard wheels would be a great stealthy choice…

Good idea - the stealth SE option but not sure if you will need or the sport suspension (I think they all have sport suspension regardles of spec?). If it doesn't you can fit something better than what BMW put on anyway....
Re MPG: I have never achieved manufactures figures for any car I've had, even a little Clio diesel. Thats down to driving style though. I have achieved over 30mpg on my e46 330i but that was really trying hard on a motorway trip from London to Sheffield. The rest of the time I got 25mpg in a mix that was majority motorway driving. I have a heavy foot though....
I've read on other threads that the 335i is pretty economical. One chap said that he achieves same consumption figures for 335d and 335i. Can't remeber which thread it was but have a dig around.

Mine arrives 2 weeks tomorrow.
Personally, I think there are so many 'Sport spec' 320ds around that, having a 3.0 twin turbo lurking means that, even with big wheels and a body kit you're still going to really surprise people when you blast past
(hence I've gone for a sport spec touring)
Performance wise, they are fantastic. Just believe the hype written in EVO and elsewhere and you won't be far wrong.
As for mpg, can't really comment as my demo car was a) auto and b) caned absolutely everywhere...including half an hour of sideways action in a disused quarry
