Does it say Fern Green on the plate in the engine compartment? I have a brochure and I'm sure it shows Fern Green as a lighter green and your shade as Boston Green. I'm surprised there's no dual climate control in there - I thought it was standard on the '97 facelifted E36s. My '99 318is has it and I didn't have to ask for it as an option because it was shown as standard.

Ditto re the AC but I think they included as standard on the very last of the E36's.

Phoned up BMW with the chassis no. when I was interested in the car and they reeled off the spec including Fern Green. Pictures might not do it justice. Yeah I was suprised with the lack of a/c too but the car had such a decent history I couldn't say no. No remote central locking either!

Do it. Simply a bargain in terms of Nice Car + Speed / Price.

Plus that engine: I booted it off a toll booth yesterday and it just felt stellar in smoothness and thrust.

I will get one when the finances sort themselves out.

As for that engine, I've been a bit spoilt punting vixpy's new 3.8 straight 6 around (licklicklicklicklicklick).

O/T Neil, some lovely slides by you on the last Vmax vid. Rare to get an opportunity to play like that at Brunters. Top opposite lock action thumbup

Cheers folks, poor spec is a bit disappointing but this was BMW in the era were you had to pay extra for a radio/cassette player or you were left with a hole in the dashboard!

Anybody know if its a true that you had to pay extra for the "none-smoker" pack which essentially involved removing the cigar lighter and replacing the ashtray with a pocket?

Funny you should say that, when I got the spec they told me I had a 'non-smokers pack' fitted as an optional extra. This consists of fitting a dummy cigarette lighter and removing all the lids from the wee trays on the centre console. Great, so now all my coins and valuables are exposed to potential theives and I bet BMW charged for this pleasure!

No it was free. I still have the price list and brochure for the E36 coupe from 1999. I ordered mine brand new and opted against the non-smoker pack as realised I might want to sell the car one day and making it smoker-unfriendly would reduce the number of potential buyers. I also prefer to have my car park money covered up.
