Help? I need a new car.

basically i've worked hard to raise some money and want a new car and i've always wanted a BMW. I've got 7000 pounds to spend and i'm looking for advice on what type of BMW i should get. I don't have much experience with the in's and out's with cars so a experienced eye would be very helpful.

All i have been advised recently is to go for a Diesel.
Not much for me to go on.. so i'd be very happy for any help i can be given.

Well, £7k is a good budget, so what are your requirements? Do you want something roomy, fast, convertible? Do you do a lot of miles per year?

Out of interest, if you don't know anything about cars, why a BMW (not a bad choice at all, but I'm biaised!).

Always wanted a BMW not really much more to say than that. I'd love something fast. Not some much with the roomy i've been looking at the compacts but i'm not sure. basically i want something professional looking and meaty under the hood ;-)

Ok...is insurance a concern? Do you care about MPG? The fastest Compact is the 325ti, not sure if that meets your budget or what you want, or you could go a bit older and go for an E36 M3 Evo if you want the biggest bang-for-your-buck.

Why don't you browse the classifieds for something you like the look of as a first step?

I'll look into those cars. I did find a 2dr BMW 320td that's 2003. I like the shape and compact style of the car. I just got no clue on its performance.

look on www.parkers.co.uk and type in the vehicle make and model you want and it should produce an accurate list of all you need regarding the car.
