recently purchased the above car and the temp gauge on the dash cluster has packed up, well mostly itll rise slightly up the blue and thats it. had the car mapped recently and the man with the laptop said the cars coolant temp was fine when we went for a drive, he did try resetting the gauge to no avail. also he did a test where all the gauges spin round so i dont think the problem is the cluster itself.

the cars heating works fine pumping out hot air when requested. i replaced a "double temperature switch" bmw part no 13621703993 thinking this was the issue but still the problem stands. dont know what else to try and dont want to take it in to a garage just yet as its prob something silly (we can hope).

anyone got any ideas or past experience and have an idea of what i could try

greatly appreciated

if it's anything like the bmw's I've owned it could well be dry solder joints in the cluster itself, worth checking first methinks
