X5 facelift

Can anyone tell me when the facelift was on the old X5 model and what it consisted of?

Thinking about buying one to replace my 530d. Also thought about a Disco, what do you think?

Mate,changed the wifes E60 530d touring for a Disco,what a pile of SHITE !!! ride was lovely when the fecking thing worked..........and the dealer set-up when you have a problem is shite ended up taking it back after 3 months for a full refund - DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE over the disco 3,go for the X5 all IMO of course.

Differences were small details Early 04, slightly different grill and fogs and the indicators streach further round the wing. I've had mine 2 years in December and it's been nothing but reliable and fun to drive. I also have children and it works a dream for pushchairs and the dog.

Tips are buy the rubber load liner and the cargo divider to keep the dog off the leather.

Oh and don't bother with the disco handles like a pork sword.

what he said !! took a disco 3 in px earler in the year and used it for a day before I parked it up build quality was shi%e !! where as I managed 3 weeks with an X5 3.0d before the attraction of chucking £80 in the tank and going no where wore off

facelift was around 53 plate, on the diesels its a revised engine/box 4wd system, new 3.0d engine is much healthier , Ive had both and the later lump responds much better to a remap (265bhp tweeked) , externally wheels changed and indicators go from amber to clear.

December 03 the very first X5 facelifts arrived so there are a few on 53 plates, anything 04 onwards is deffo a facelift.

Apart from some light facial changes the steering wheel was changed the engine was uprated and the annoying parcel shelf was changed to an easy to use flat pull out thingy!

Didn't they also change the four wheel drive system to X drive??
