X5 3.0d question
Discussion
Hi there, Im after some advice. Looking to buy an 03/53 plate X5 3.0d (not sure about sport). All the ones I looked at are around 50k - 60k miles. What problems if any would I expect around that mileage? Also next service is it a biggy? I presume service is dicated by the green / red lights? And lastly, they nearly all have horrible wood trim, is this easy / cheap to replace? I know its all personal taset, but black leather and the dark wood looks awful, IMHO..
Cheers

The trims easy to change look on ebay for the alu trim or black ash... sport def, buy a used 4.4 with Gas it's cheaper to run and the standard spec is higher. mine costs £35 for 200 miles!!
Excellent car I've had no major big problems and my last service this week a full belt and oil serv with repair romped home at just over £450 which I think is reasonable for a car of it's engine size and as they had to replace the Aircon sensor at £120....... DO it you won't regret it 150 MPH !!!
PS make sure it's a multiport Gas kit if you go down that route.

Cheers, well decided not to replace trim and found a car with 60k 3.0d. Alu Trim, nav, tv etc.. Not facelift but happy with it. Just left dealer, pick up next week. Just had a nagging thought, when you flip the nav / tv it reveals a cassete! Hope there is a CD autochanger in the boot!
Going to drive it for a few month then see if a remap would improve things..
Any companies recommneed for teh 3.0d of this age?

Superchip I've heard are good. there is a specific X5 web sit called x5drivers.co.uk there is some interesting stuff about remaps.
Don't worry about the cassete it should have a changer in the rear nearside boot pocket. did you check out the classifieds on PH before you went to a dealer. What was the damage on price and get some photos up when you pick up the beast.
best of luck.
