New member/ Fuel mileage on 325ci

Hi.im a new member on piston heads so first would like to say hi
Now for my first post, i Brought a 01 E46 325ci about 4 weeks ago and was wondering what the average fuel consumption should be ? Around town im getting 21.9mpg max and on a long run on the m/way the max has been 22.7 at around the 80mph mark,and thats with out a heavy right foot

That's pretty poor. I get 31ish mpg in my 328ci and rarely go on the motorway and generally only do short journies.

Same car as the OP - I get about 22mpg around town and around 30mpg on the motorway - and I drive with a heavy right foot

Can't comment directly on the 325i but my 115K miler 330i shows a continual average of 28mpg (BC). Journeys consist of a mix of round town, M25 and sometimes Motorway cruising.. Real consumption verifys computer almost spot on

The in town mpg seems ok but the motorway mpg is very low compared with my 330i.

Mine gave me 25mpg over 20k miles mixed motoring a/c on permanantly(70% motorway but I have a very heavy foot) The best ever was 30mpg on a steady cruise London to Sheffs using the cruise control in the early hours of the morning.

Sorry i forgot to say its an auto but i dont think that should make that much difference from the other p/headers cars! Think i may have to spend some cash and get it checked out

Thats terrible - my 328 averages about 28-30 mixed motorway and town driving. Even when giving it a good bit of right boot its around 24-25.

The auto does drink more but the very small difference between City and Motorway mileage make we wonder if something is not right.

Have you done some actuall tank to tank calculations? Your trip computer may be wrong?
