knocking noise

Can anyone please help i have noticed a funny knocking noise on my bmw 330 when i am travelling at low speeds up to 20 mph, it has been to my local bmw specialist who says he has checked everything he thought it could be and as also spoke to a main dealer, but he cant find anything wrong, anybody got any ideas what the fault if any could be.

Mine was clonking when going over slow bumps, it turned out to be front lower arm bushes.

The E46 is known for getting through these, but if the dealer can't find a fault are you sure it's not something loose in the car? Like in the spare wheel well for instance?

cheers for that mate, it comes from the front of the car and is a clear knocking noise at low speeds

Hmmmmmm How about anti~roll bar drop links But i thought those garage guys should pick them up

to make things clearer it is not a loud knocking noise, it more sounds like you are driving with a flat tyre. what i cant understand is how a garage can check everything but find nothing up with it

Hard to know without hearing it Anybody else you can try local?
Did think about brake pads jumping around in the brake calipers like a broken anti rattle spring?

Have you checked the tyres yet? any un-eveness in the tread can show up as a dull thud when driving.

cheers for that mate will check into the tyres, but they are all pretty new

m3 kevin the guy i use used to be the head mechanic for Bmw in grange over sands and i dont really know anybody else in the area. but will look into brake pads as well, cheers
