E91 335i in auto or manual?

I have a last chance to ammend my order before it goes into build this week. I have opted for the auto in the E91 M-Sport guise. Just wondering if people think that is a good marriage for this engine or whether the manual would be better. I heard reports of the manual being a tad 'notchy'.

Difficult one, I prefer manual however the paddle shit auto-box is really very good works either way on either side IYKWIM. The marrage between this gear box and the 335 combo is great and with the auto-box you can still have it manual-ish just no clutch. If your doing lots of miles or do lots of start stop traffic then auto. If not then doesn't matter.

I've got a 335i Manual and have driven the Auto.

The manual is a touch notchy and you have to work to make changes smooth...especially at low speeds.

I'd say it depends on what you use the car for. If you do a lot of driving in town, I'd not hesitate to say that the manual would be hard work. Similarly, if you do lots on motorways, I'd say the lazy torque of an auto 335d would be nicer.

However, if you are a petrol head, like to be 'at one' with the car and are prepared to work at making smooth, fast progress, go for the manual.

I generally prefer a manual box, but it has to be said, BMW really do produce a very good auto box these days. So, yes.. tough choice!
