Take my 07 Z4MR into them for a part ex price against a new M3.

My car has every extra and has done 5k miles and cost in excess of £49k.

It's not even a year old and guess what they offered..........

£27k, are they f-cking mad??

£22k depreciation in a year!?

I've never seen an M car that depreciates like these.

Any thoughts?

I have tried to buy several cars including new X5's, old X5's, 3 series and more recently a new 535d and have tried my best to give my local dealer business. They have been significantly beaten every time by other BMW dealers (Vines etc) and when questioned just answer, if you don't like what we're offering go with the other dealer.......

Bear in mind these cars are retailing as AUC around the £30k mark, so £3 or £4k under is actually not too bad... IMO...

Unfortunately my friend, there are quite a few 07's on the BMW AUC site for early £30Ks, and most with enough spec to satisfy most owners...options don't seem to make much difference to residuals so anything you spent on them has effectively dissappeared. Many of the ones on the BMW AUC are also much lower mileage than yours too.

I bought a new Z4M Coupe in April 07, and got loads of money off it, in line with lots of others on here that bought roadsters or Coupes. How come you paid full list for your car? Was it a special order? I am very sympathetic mate...I had similar problems (although not to that extent) with my Boxster S. It's not fun.

I know better than most that cars depreciate but M cars never do as quickly as rest of BMW range. For some reason the Z4M does. It's only worth 60% after 9 months. That is a joke, even standard BM's don't take a hit that hard.

IMHO they were overpriced. My '07 Z4M R was 6mths old, 2000mls and £11k off retail and loaded with the right options incl the rare cruise. No way would I buy for £47k but at £36k it seemed rude not to!
