Do some BMW dealers have better repuations that others?

Hi all,
Currently researching E36 328i's with a view to buying one next summer. I will obviously be looking for an example which has a full BMWSH. However are there any BMW garages renound for giving poor service, and hence i should stay away from any cars that have been apparently maintained by them.
I know Steve Soper has/had a dealership so i would assume his gets a good reputation, however Douglas Park up here in Glasgow seems to have a very bad reputation for customer service and maintainence.
What about independant BMW specailists - what are the good ones and the bad ones?

I would have thought you'd be lucky to find an E36 328 with full BMWSH and to be quite honest i can't see any value in having it over a good spciliest history or a trusted local garage.
I have a 1998 M3 Evo and wouldn't consider taking it to a main dealer. I think my local place is £120 per hour were as munich legends who are concidered and expensive specilist are nearer £50 per hour and in my opinion know more about the older models than some main dealers.

Believe it or not i'd say close to 90% of cars ive seen advertised to have a FBMWSH! I have a 1998 M3 Evo and wouldn't consider taking it to a main dealer. I agree with your point about taking it to a specialist - i will be doing the same and avoiding main dealers. However when buying them its far more likely a car will have a dealer history than a specialist history (only 1 out of around 25 ive seen have been maintained by a specailist),hence why im wanting to find out what dealers are considered better than others.
Any BMW specialist recommendations? Im new to BMW circles so i really don't know where is best to go, or more importantly where to stay away from.
