is it worth it? this is my first time owning a p.c and after getting it all hooked up last night i joined up to this site, whilst flicking through i noticed that someone else had the same question and as i still have no idea what im doing on this thing i cant find if anybody knew the answer. i wont even think about the conversion til it back on the road after an unfortunate head on, but... i love the idea of it and am just wondering if for the dollar its going to cost would the power i gain be noticable by a lot or a little??? and would the 80k engine take it. i dont even know if im in the rite place for this so bare with me. if so any sugg/tips would be very much appriciated. many thanks

Don't quite understand the question but there is a BMW area on the forum so I suspect you'd be better off posting it there?

i think what you are talking about is the upgraded inlet manifold. Will give you about 25bhp increase and is awesome but a lot of work making it fit. its off an older 325 more info can be found at www.bmwland.com however i am doubtful you'll be able to read the replies to this let alone navigate to a different url.
Good luck
Good luck
You're talking about the modified M50 inlet manifold and BBTB.
There's a chap over on e36coupe.com that can supply and fit for around £450 - look for Alpina527 over there.
I've not done it yet, but it is reported to give a healthy gain.
There is also a restrictor in the 328i standard airbox that can be removed (in about 2 mins flat) that should be done as a matter of course.

You can check by looking on the block. With the bonnet up, torch handy, look on the block towards the gearbox from the LH side of the car. You will either see a metal tab bolted to the block, probably a bit rusty (Alusil), or a raised metal area, part of the block casting (Nikasil). Hard to describe unless you know what you are looking for. Ring a stealer with the registration/engine number/chassis number - they WILL know. Or, if you can't be arsed, and judging by your spelling and grammar, you can't
, check on e36coupe.com. I think they have got pictures. PS Alusil is the one you are after
now you know how crap i actually am at this computer thing. ha. gotta give me some cred tho. only had it three days. anyways cheerz doodlebug and that tip of yours will be first on my list of things to do tomorrow. im certain im replying in the wrong bit to . never mind tho aye? turbo tim? is that a clue that you've left me? i might buy a book.
