Squeeky Windows..

I have a E46 316iSE and both front windows when closed have more squeeks and rattles than Toys-R-Us, yet dropping the windows only a fraction all the noises stop!..

I imagine it's something in the upper door frame which the closed window is catching/rubbing on, but any idea's on a cure??..... tried the old silicon spray etc but no difference.

Most likely to be the door seals. The fix is to clean them with something without any silicone in (brake cleaner etc) and then lubricate with a BMW Rubber care product (Gummipflege is says on the tube) The part that causes the problem is the outermost felt bit of the seal that closes against the upper door aperture. It might seem odd but it worked a treat on my E46 Touring some years back.

A little bizarere as all was well then both windows started to squeak within a day or so of each other?..

Will give your fix a go.
