muffled noise and draging effect at 30 mph. Any ideas?

Hi,I am looking for some help. I have a BMW 320 ci auto coupe 2001, when driving in drive mode at 30 mph ish, I get this noise which sounds like driving over the hard shoulder markings on the motorway. It feels like its going to slow for the gear its in, there`s also a dragging effect and the rev counter fluctuates at the sam time. As soon as you accelerate and pass the 30 mph mark the noise goes. It also happens in sports mode. However if the select semi automatic mode, it drives fine. Any ideas??

sorry my friend. i've tried to think and rack my brains but no joy. i would have said maybe check your propshaft coupling [rubber doughnut joining prop to g/box] or bearings but as you say its fine in tip mode it kinda rules that out. most specialists now have diagnostic equipment so you might wana get it plugged in? see what happens. i currently work at a specialist and we charge around 45 squid to do it so it shouldn't be much more than that else where. thats all i can suggest on the matter, good luck tho.

Hi, I had it at a gearbox specialist yesterday afternoon. He plugged in the diags machine, but no faults were logged. He was at a loss too. Its a strange one. Thanks for your reply anyway.
