BMW discounts

I've just been talking to my local dealer about leasing, buying or the like 2 or 3 5 series (530 and 535 d sports).
I was told that after Jan 1 they are no longer supplying to brokers and so the discounts will be much tighter..

Can anyone confirm this?

As an aside if I want a deal on 3 cars (possibly not all BMW) where is the best place to go ?

If it was a big dealer group they could be refering to the group rather than the BMW network.

OK sorry, I really want to but a BMW and I have been so disapointed with them of late, I really wanted the new 635D, in the dry it was such a fab car, and the gearbox (auto) the best I've ever used, up or down the box was seamless, BUT cold wet conditions transformed the ride and handling into "Danger zone".

anyone got any more views on BMW discounts? I may be looking for a 335i/d coupe in the near future, how haggle-able are they? by the time I've added a few decent options they aint all that cheap.

The issue with brokers apparently is that some dealerships have been off-loading cars "cheaply" to brokers in order to meet their required sales figures.
Jim O'Donnell has stated that this practise must stop.

I find that hard to believe. If they dont do the volume then BMW AG are going to be breathing down his next. If they think they can do volume and put large margins across the cars then I think they are wrong.

There may still be cars made available to Brokers but it will be much more tightly controlled.

It's all true - BMW UK are sick of resellers cashing in on dealers who are missing their targets and thus selling them at a knock-down price. From Jan 1st the fleet segment will not have any bonuses from BMW - effectively the dealers margin will be 8% and they will not count toward target. SO the dealer will want to hold on to as much of his 8% as possible. The days of 12 and 13% discounts are over - as are the internet suppliers like Autobytel.
Audi did a similar thing a few years ago - their dealers only get 4% at the front - hence the small discounts they give. Trouble with BMW has been that they pay too much in bonuses and only reward it if you hit your target - that causes a snowball effect as dealers offer bigger discounts to hit the bonus. Short term everyone will grumble at the smaller discounts but at least residuals will finally strenghten up......maybe. Apparently if you order the car before the end of the year then the discounts will be honoured even if the car does not arrive until March 2008.

Well I pick my 335D touring up on Monday morning from the dealer.

With a little help from a broker we got 14% off list so the discounts are certainly there (and in my pocket).
