can you id this car ?

my old man's first BMW, circa ~1976

most reliable car he'd ever owned and he went on to own around 5 or 6 more of them right into the late 1990's:

Looks like an old 528 to me. No idea which E no I'm afraid. Did it have a central tail pipe?

Actually, having said that, it could also be an E3 7 series. No vent on the C pillar like on the 5.

It's an E3 Saloon...not a 7-Series.

I had one of those once... 3.0S Automatic...superb car!

yes I think its an E3 (standard wheelbase) to me

an E3 is a 7 series though isnt it ?

at least according to teh wikipedia chart it is ?

that would make sense because after this he got a white E23

It pre-dates the serieses, but it's the equivalent of a 7 at the time.
