BMW 318i E30, From road to road legal track/'Ring Car.

Has anyone got any information, links, hints, tips, spares or advice for turning a normal 4 door 318i into a track car that can also go on the road and the Nordschleife?

Specific questions include:

Converting to a LSD (318is was too expensive)
Suspension mods
Simple engine mods
Tyres and wheels
Stripping out the interior
Safety features (roll cages, harnesses etc)

Anything would be of help and very much appreciated.
