Front disc and pad replacement for E36 318is?

I need to replace the front discs and pads on the E36 and I am not hugely convinced the standard stoppers are that good.

I will replace the parts myself but would like some advice as the best route to go down.

It is just a road car used for commuting by the good lady but if I can get better discs and pads on, I will!

I was thinking of GSF vented discs (BQ), and mintex xtreme pads?

Any other suggestions are most welcome

Apart from the aforementioned advice, you could if you feel slightly flush ands are already running 16s try E46 328 discs and caliper carriers. Slightly bigger dia disc which also helps.

BMW also do their own cross drilled discs if you go for that route

Ah, well I just ordered the Brembo discs from GSF (I have standard 16" wheels).

Not sure I'm going to stretch to the Pagids, so I am going to settle for regular mintex or Ferodo.

Thanks for your advice, my plan is to keep this car and turn it into a track car whenever the missus relinquishes the keys and I can get her something else, which I would anticipate doing an AP Racing conversion and Coilover suspension! (Maybe!)

When I changed discs/pads on my E36 I had to get a new pad depth sensor wire as well. The original one refused to accept that it was sitting in a brand new pad. Just a word of warning in case you come across the same problem.

Ah-ha, thanks for that, I wondered if that would be the case or not, although my pad wear sensor light hasn't come on yet.
I think it's the discs that are toast but I may as well change the pads too!

Just to let you know I have fitted Brembo Max front discs and Mintex (normal) pads and am very impressed with the results.
Also, my pad wear sensor has been kind and has acccepted the new setup without switching itself on! Result!
