melted pistons

hi every one i have a 92 bmw e34 525 m50 non vanos engine and have done the unfortunate tak of melting a piston buy seems of things. has anyone ever done this and can i get away with just putting new piston in place ? i put new head on only 3 weeks ago due to cracking the old one. i do all the work myself so any help will be gratefull thanks

Assuming the bore isn't damaged you can repalce just the one piston, if you can find one. What's the cause of the melted piston?

Melted piston, cracked head, can't help thinking there's something badly wrong here.

NO MELTED PISTONS TOOK HEAD OFF CAR THIS MORNING AND FOUND SNAPPED INLET CAMSHAFT AN 2 BENT VALVES HOW NICE PERFECT CHRISTMAS PRESENT EH. GOTTA TRY SOURCE A CAMSHAFT NOW. ANY IDEAS. ITS 24V NON VANOS ENGINE.

Before you start replacing bits, do you understand what went wrong and know what other damage has been caused?

was told that the camshaft bearing caps could of been over tightened when the head was replaced 3weeks ago due to old one being cracked. also have been told timing chain tensioner could of been to tight and causing to much strain on shafts. cam shaft snapped at bearing 3 and no6 inlet valves bent due to them being held open. dont quite know how to get pics up on here otherwise i would.

THE HEAD HAS WARRANTY COVER BUT DUE TO PROB BEING FITTED WRONGLY WILL INVALIDATE THAT.
