Just Bought a 320D Sport

Hi all, defected from Audi, and petrol at the same time.

04 Touring, Imola Red, Cream leather, Toys (TV etc)
Enjoying the car alot so far.

Hmmm,
I had a 4.2V8 A6 Quattro Sport amazing car,
So quite a change 300bhp to 150bhp,
I have a local chap who re maps is this worth doing? Not that the 320 is lacking.
Need the economy and so far so good, picked the car up with 19mpg showing (dealer forcourt) now showing 37mpg and going up.

A 320d certainly is a bit of a change from a 4.2 V8 ! Although I presume there's not much in it in terms of torque even if you have lost a lot of BHP.

Re the remap, there's plenty on here who've had it done and most seem to be happy - some even claim better MPG which I presume is your priority now. (What did the V8 Quattro give you by the way ?)

I was only getting 22mpg!!
So £75 odd to fill up and 320 miles.
Looking forward to £60 fill ups and 450plus range.

Hi Jem

Welcome from me.

I had an e46 320d touring and found it an extremly good car. I averaged 46mpg over 50K miles with over 500 miles (and the odd 600) between fill ups. I had to keep a mileage log for work so the fiqures are genuine and not from the OBC. Reliable and cheap to service as well.

i am waitting for my 320d coupe to arrive in January , they realy are great cars.. funny i have a MCS now but before that i had an A8 4:2

I have been reading about the Swirl Flap issue,
Is it as bad as the press and forums suggest?
I bought an After market warranty for the Audi but that was pants, is it prudent for me to buy another warranty or maybe a BMW extended warranty?
Any thoughts?

I presume it wasn't an AUC as it would have one year BMW warranty which is very good (MOT failure items not including consumable parts, battery and even exhaust system). If the car has finished the original three year warranty you may not be able to renew with BMW.

I bought from my Employer,
55k on an 04.
Just out of BMW warranty,
My employers buy over five a year from the local dealer so wondered weather that'd hold any sway?
Any recommendations for a warranty (not that direct company)?
