Leather interior E39 5 series

Wonder if anybody has had a similar experience to this and has any ideas as to what to do about it. I bought a 540i with light tan leather interior and having lived with it for a while I have noticed that the headrests and other parts of the interior door inserts etc seem to have slightly different colours. For example on the driver seat the leather looks almost lime green tinged but the sides of the seat are definately tan.

My guess is that either the leather has changed colour due to being in the sun (but I don't think this is the case) or at some point someone has cleaned/ treated the leather and there has been a reaction.

I am not that worried as the car is my bargain barge but wondered if anybody had any suggestions as to how to blend everything in a bit?

Not all that looks like leather is leather

After a trip to the factory I was advised that Bmw "treat" all of their basic leathers so they are more supple & last longer, In order to get "proper" leather they specify at a huge extra cost "Buffalo" & "nappa"So I agree with the previous comment.

Either a re trim or look out on Ebay for replacements.

Gliptone do a leather dye and refinishing kit which, with patience, gives excellent results on BMW beige...

Leatherette or Vinyl doesn't get lose it's colour as easily or get stained

how much does a proper retrim set you back nowadays?

I think it might actually be Nappa leather as I recall. I will try the the suggestions.

Plain cloth feels much warmer in the winter too.

Leather I wouldn't have again, unless the seats
were heated.

Also plain cloth is handy when the grandkids have
been "exploring" the back of the car.
