What power increase could I expect

By chipping or remapping a 116i?

It is a powerhouse at the moment kicking out a huge 122bhp but I feel the need to live 'on the edge' and would like even more power...

What could I expect?

I don't think a remap is going to net you an extra 28bhp.....maybe an extra 2.8bhp!

Mate, just trade it for a quicker car.

I hear they are a bunch of , they didn't approach me at all to see if I needed help!! after 2 days you'd of thought they'd of asked if I was ok!!

Got even worse treatment from Audi though, still got the scares

You won't get alot in terms of power figures but the numbers aren't the issue the result of what it does to your car is what matters, the driveability will doubtlessly improve, throttle response will sharpen and the car will pull cleaner and sharper throughout the rev range, you will also see an improvement in MPG. I have my 3.0i Z4 mapped and the rolling roaded figures are an extra 20bhp and 23lbft of torque but the overall result is a better driving car as described above...

for a NA engine you will struggle to get much at all. had my mini cooper tuned, got 8bhp wahoo did make it nicer to drive smoother, higher limiter and so on....

if its new and has stop start etc an ecu remap might not be too good

Try fitting a turbo remap will do nothing for you.

Just to keep that in perspective for the O/P. Your car was 260BHP, so an extra 20BHP on your car is around 7.5%. A remap on his car will yeild about the same percentage, so thats around 8BHP. :-(

Don't need to as its the wifes and as said before she loves it!

I get a new one every 3 months and can borrow different models all the time, so I'm not that bothered but if it was possible and it was a reasonable gain, for little outlay I would be tempted!

Yes, i'd agree totally, but the benefits you are feeling are 3x the benefit he will get in terms of driveability, torque, power, etc, but still have paid the same price.
