e39 auto gearbox reset

Have just discovered that I can reset my gearbox but don't know how....is it a main dealer reset or can you do it yourself?

What will resetting your gearbox do?

Have you got problems with it?

Just interested to konw as I didn't know you could do that and I've recently noticed that mine doesn't change up a gear when I would expect...

Would re-setting solve this?

Reset is easy. Simply turn the ignition key until dash warning lights come on but do not start, leave in that state for 30 seconds, then turn key to off, then start engine - job done

Is there any kind of confirmation that if you do this the re-set has been successful?

Are there any issues with doing this - I mean, I'm not going to break anything am I?
