Superior Sound - USB or Ipod via 6FL?

I had a 535d with ipod interface, now e70 x5 with usb.
The USB interface is quicker to load artist lists etc, so from that point of view it wins my vote.
Not really noticing a big difference in sound, but then the standard bmw speakers are that naff its hard to tell.
Plus you can have have an auto changer with the USB, so i cant really think of any benefits of the ipod interface, other than its maybe easier to retrofit.
