e46 325 lack of noise?

Just picked up my new toy 325CI Sport M pack and have discovered that its really quiet on the move (1. leptons) and still pretty much silent no engine noise or exhaust noise. Now im not complaining as such but i would like to be able to hear the engine do a little work higher up. Any suggestions? Is this normal

I had a 325ci and it didn't make much of a noise unless you really revved it. 330s sound a tiny bit better on the move, but neither really make much of a noise.

Get yourself a nice exhaust and filter.

scorpion/eisenmann/supersprint do a nice range with stock looking boxes but full satinless.

For a filter, try the GruppeM carbon intake.

My brother runs the GruppeM with an eisenmann exhaust on his 330ci and it sounds lovely when given a few beans. Not as loud as the next door neighbours e46 M3 which is standard but just as nice. Definate change in intake/engine/exhaust note.

Its simply something im thinking about as i bought the car to sell (after a couple weeks use) so not sure i can be bothered to put any real money into it. Is there much of a power increase or is it all show no go as it were?

Made a good bit of difference on the dyno, 236 bhp. The standard bhp is about 231. The torque figures rose more which is alot more important.

If your looking to sell then a cheap alternative is a performance panel filter in the standard airbox with a couple of discreet holes underneath for the induction sound. Bit of a chav cheapo mod but does the trick none the less.
