BMW new car discounts

I've been helping my Dad look for a new 2nd car, criteria being less than 120 g/km CO2 and able to fit his golf bags in, the 118d 3dr fits the bill perfectly. He got a quote from his local dealer and I bettered it via an online broker getting a discount of just over 7%. I then went to my local dealer and he's saying he'll be able to get close to it if we place the order with him but in his eyes its quite a large discount. I'm sure there's more to be had than 7% off and he's going to say whatever to try and convince that it's an amazing deal, I was just wondering what people's experience were with BM main dealer discounts recently on bread-and-butter models?

Buy a 6 month old car or demonstrator. Probably get about 20% off list!

I got what I initially thought was a good discount on a 1 series, but it turns out it was just because they were desperate to unload them.

Ideally would but it has to be new I think so he can claim it as a capital allowance (up to 100% value if less than 120g CO2)

The Euro has gone from 1.54 to £1 to 1.34 to the £1.00 in recent months. So I suspect discounts will disappear and price rises will not be not too far away if the pound continues at this exchange rate.
