Any body know whether it is possible to disconect the screen-off function with the handbrake so that the passengers can watch the built in TV whilst the car is moving? It os the Comms package in a E39 530i

Yes, its possible, you have two choices...

1: get hold of a TV unlock lead http://tinyurl.com/2k29v3
2: get hold of navcoder and an i-bus interface and turn it of in the tv module it's self.

If option 2, most people use the CD changer lead to connect the I-Bus interface up too, get hold of the I-Bus dongle and navcoder software and just plug it in.

1: remove the NS wheel arch cover (that houses the CD changer, navcomputer etc)
2: unclip the cd changer lead that hooks up the CD changer to the car (it has 3 wires)
3: plug the i-bus interface into the cd changer lead
4: power up the laptop and start navcoder
5: turn ignition to stage 1 (radio circuit)
6: select the CODE tab and then TV
7: tick the TV when moving box, then code TV.

Thats it, all you need to do then is disconnect every thing and put the cover back, job done.
