New BMW Owner - E46 330ci DSC / Alarm Query

Hi Guys,
I've recently bought a facelifted E46 330ci sport after having a number of jap cars and am chuffed to bits with it. It's a very welcome change from my previous Type-R which I loved, however eventually I just got tired of having to ring it's neck all the time and the accompanying noise was grating on any long journeys!
I decided to treat myself to a creamy straight-six I'm well and truly sold on BMW already! However I've got a couple of queries you may be able to help me with as I've just popped my BMW cherry?
Alarm Window & Sunroof Closure / Opening Functionality - On my car when you hold the open button everything opens all the way including the rear windows. However when you hold the lock button again everything closes except the rear windows is this normal, anybody else experienced this??
DSC Settings - I'm not entirely certain what the settings on the DSC do as I'm yet to have a good read through the technical lexicon booklet that came with the car! What setting do you guys find is best? I tend to be driving mine after breifly pressing the DSC button in as I find that it isn't as obtrusive...What systems are enabled / disabled after just a single press on the DSC? What happens when you hold the button down is everything now completely disabled, does this affect the ABS behaviour?
Thoughts / Advise would be much appreciated...

Alarms seem to have a mind of their own - depends how its been programmed.
Mine, with 2 clicks on the open button drops the drivers window. Hold the open button down and both front windows open. Hold the close button down and everything closes.
I know other E46's that do different things though!
Pretty sure you can get it reprogrammed but it might cost a bit.

On a coupe, the back windows will open with the key but wont close, this is down to the fact that there is no obstruction protection for little fingers etc. On a saloon, there is as the back windows are proper ones.
You can have it programmed by a dealer so that the backs dont open on the key, but you cant program it so that they close for safety sake.
With regards to the DSC, a single press deactivates it slightly allowing it to be a little less obtrusive, you can still get it to slide a little, wheels will spin but it will still catch you if you take it too far. A long press will deactivate it all, but not the ABS afaik. Then it will kill you if you push it too much.
