Cruise control - varying speed

I've got an E92 and bog standard cruise control (not active). I had it set at 70mph for a dual carriageway thumping home last night, and there's a tightish bend with a recommended speed limit on it. No one else on the roads, plenty dry enough, wanted to get home quickly, so I kept the cruise control at 70mph. Bizarrely, the car slowed down to 60mph around the corner and then sped up.

There was no DSC intervention, I didn't touch the pedals or cruise control. What's all that about?

I'm just guessing but I'd imagine it's a safety feature. If the angle of steering turn exceeds a threshold level, cruise control reduces speed until the angle falls below the threshold again. Perhaps designed to prevent numpties trying to use CC through roundabouts and such. Never seen it in action myself, tbh.

On my E46 and E83 I've never experienced that. Always stays at the speed set.
