e39 passenger door stuck!

afternoon BM massive!

the central locking on my e39 is working fine, ie the button on the passenger door goes up and down but the door wont open from inside or outside. im assuming something has come 'undone' inside the door. is there a way of getting the door open? or am i going to have to take the door card off with the door still shut?

just had a chat with my local BM specialist and he's of the opinion that the only solution to my little problem (above) is to damage the door card.. ouch. this seems extreme altho i cant think of anything else myself.. help!

Don't let him damage your door trim! It is a stuck mechanism which can sometimes be freed with heat. I had the same problem with my 7 series but found that on really hot days the lock would sometimes open.

Heat the door up from the inside with a portable blower heater and then open and close the central locking again and again until it opens. It worked on about the 30th attempt on my 7. Then you need to remove the door card to get to the fauly actuator. Simple!

I've had the same problem on the rear near-side door twice in the past year or so.

Locks/unlocks ok - but just won't open - from the outside or inside.

Both times it did eventually open, for no reason. Really odd!
