Rusty hubs on Z4?

I've been looking at a Z4 coupe for sale and the wheel hubs seem to be very rusty. Is this a common problem with Z4s or has this been hanging around too long out in all weathers?

Will it cause any problems or can it be wiped away and the hubs painted to clear the problem up?

ive got his problem, and pretty much every other one ive seen, my M rims show this off terrible, in summer im taking these wheels of and giving the hubs a serious re paint, im going with gloss black. bmw dont want to know, my previous 130i had the same issue.

Thanks for the reply, I guess a tin of hammerite can join the z4 on the shopping list!

Unfortunately too common for my liking. The only way to sort it is to paint them, at an extra cost to you as I doubt many dealers will do it for free or on a goodwill basis.

Noooo!!!!!, Wheel off, mask the whole thing up and spray the hub silver, did mine back end of last year and it looks great..

How can you actually see your hubs? Don't you have large brake discs covering them?

Yeah my car is only 4 months old and the rear hubs are rusty. It sounds like a small complaint in the scheme of things, which it is really, but it looks nasty.

You sure it's the hub? I doubt it, more likely the centre of the disc, in which case just give them a nice coating of high temp paint.
