bluetooth with apple i phone?

I have a new 57 plate 5 series that is compatible with the apple i phone, no problem there. I also have a 07 reg Z4MC which according to the bmw bluetooth compatibility page on the uk web is NOT compatible, is lists that only cars with a production from 09/07 are compatible.

Has any had experience of using the i phone with a Z4?
Is it possible to upgrade the version of bluetooth in my car?

I do not have the i phone at the moment, but want to purchase one ASAP, it would good if it could work correctly in both cars.

well just an update, I brought the I phone, not only is it a great bit of kit - it works in both cars. All features work including address book transfer! Only problem is that I can know access ph when I am away from my desk. The Internet access/email is great, mind you I was using a 6230i before.
