2002 E39 Comms pack - Motorola V50

Still very excited about my new car!
First question
Is there an easy way to update my 2002 E39 M5 comms pack phone? I have the Mororola V50 and it works when I put my sim card in it, but it a major faf to do that all the time. Is there an easy alternative? (I have a Nokia N73)
If there isn't a more modern cradle or easy bluetooth solution I was thinking to maybe Clone my sim or buy a new pay as you go sim and divert my phone to it when in the car. If possible I don't want to loose the use of the nav screen & steering wheel buttons.
(and no, I don't want a bluetooth headset!)

Dont know about cloning your SIM but this question has arisen several times. I would love to be able to update my phone to pair with the car each time I changed it but the answer is sadly no. It would require a complete rewire I am told and to update the software each time and cost a fortune. I still swop the SIM over like you cos I love the intregated features.

The networks can supply you with two SIMs on the same number, T-Mobile certainly offer the service to business customers. Last I heard Vodafone did it but you lost data (although this was seven years ago, things may have changed) and O2 only did it for some special customers (Damon Hill had this), similarly it's old information.

Phone your network and ask.

Simon - have just done that and they said no! Not possible on O2 network.
Also called the main dealer - it is possible to bluetooth the car - bring it up to new spec - but that is v expensive (c£800)
Other option - parrot - means loosing the integration with the nav display and poss steering wheel controls.
So, it looks like sim swapping is the only solution so far!

That's because you are not a VIP, I have to admit that Damon Hill is the only person I've ever heard of who had this and he had a special number too. This was a very long time ago.

My T-Mobile information is up to date because I mailled a friend there and asked, so you could swap to them but you need a business account.

Hmm, after a bit of googling it appears that you need 10 phones to be a suitable T-Mobile business customer, so I called Orange. They do multi-SIM, but the business sales office is closed at the moment.

I suspect that if you know your way around you can get it. just for the sheer hell of it I think I'll try and pull some strings at Orange. It would be dead useful, I rarely go anywhere without three sims and five phones.
