e38 how do you tell if its a facelift version

thinking of getting a 7 series
how do I tell if the model I am looking at is the facelift version?

I know with the e39 5 series the keys changed and so did the for lights
I have looked on autotrader and all the 7 series seem to look the same.

Silver strip on the bootlid is the sign i usually use.
