Today I brought a little runabout BMW E36 318is Coupe.
It's in very nice condition and I paid £900 for a 1994 FBMWSH car in great condition, with some nice options, full light beige leather interior, auto 'box (lot's and lot's of City driving in this car) as well as A road and motorway cruising about at 70 with work so didn't really need anything bigger or manual.
To be honest I thought it wouldn't even feel like a proper BMW should, it's not fast but it handles well, as well as a BMW should, I'm really, really pleased with it.
Got my 944 for fun and when I don't have passengers!
I'll take some pictures tomorrow, it's a lovely colour, metallic red (Calypso?)!

Will get some pics up tomorrow, as I've said it's only a little 318 but it's a nice car.
I've been running a 318iS (99 model) for getting on for a year, and its been by far and away the best car I've owned. Not the fastest, but the throttle response is excellent, exhaust sound is good for a 4 cylinder. Its relaxed at speed, comfortable on the commute to work. Its not even doing too bad on fuel - around 34 mpg on a fairly awkward commute (Basingstoke to Bracknell, very stop start).
Aching to do some changes to it though - remap, lower the suspension, new wheels, etc. but otherwise keep it stock. I think the biggest visual impact has to be lowering - it works beautifully well on the E36.

Additionally, I believe that the interior you have is the best one

I had the light beige leather interior on my E46 330Ci too, I really like it.Not had chance to do any piccies but I will do!
Drove it today quite a good distance in all types of traffic and it was lovely, much better than my 944 in heavy traffic of course!
It handles great, I hate cars that are a. FWD b. don't handle or c. have no feedback.
The E36 IMHO has more feedback through the steering wheel than the E46 but I don't suppose DSC and drive by wire throttles help the E46.
