E39 530d Touring Re-Fueling Problems

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help, I have been having problems filling my car with fuel although not everytime.. it normally seams to be at the half way mark although I has also happened at other fill levels. Basically while filling you reach a point where the cutout on the nozzle keeps cutting in like the tank if full, and no matter how long you wait it keeps doing it, the only way to keep filling when this happens is at about 1 litre every 3-4 seconds which takes a while to fill a tank!

Does any one have any idea what could be causing this, I thought it maybe a blocked tank vent?

I have this on my 911 at certain pumps - just try changing the angle and/or rotation of the nozzle, or not putting the nozzle fully in (have it about 2-3 inches from fully in) this seems to work for me.

Exactly, in my M3 I used to have to have nozzle 180 degrees. tiresome.

Have had similar problems, happens occassionally with no known reason, i mentioned it to a mechanic and he says it may be due to an air lock in the tank somewhere, funnily enough it has not done it for a while, mine typically will not let me put in the last couple of gallons

Thanks guys.... I will try turning the nozzle but think I have tried this without any effect? although not the full 180 degrees...
