DAB - no signal

Having just taken delivery of an E92 335i Coupe (fabulous!), I am trying to get the DAB function to work. So far, it has just said "no signal", despite the fact I live and work in Surrey / London, where I have to believe there is a reasonable concentration of digital broadcasts.

I've read the manual and it was no help, so any ideas would be appreciated. It may just be a software fault of course.

If you are getting all the stations showing then DAB is set up, if not it is not.
I can recieve DAB anywhere in the UK on my 635D sport, BUT when you go through trees and low lying areas it can cut off.

Park in an area with a clear sky and surround for 5 mins then try your search.
On intial PDI it can take upto 5 mins to find the first station then shortly after the rest will follow...make sure both bands are turned on...Never had a unit fail as yet.

Forza - thanks. I have tried that but no joy.

Suspect a connection is faulty.

I challenged my dealer why this was not picked up on PDI (one of the technicians). His response was enlightening. He said that the dealer check PDI was now minimal - tyres pressures and the like, not even a road drive. The argument is (from BMW HQ) that the cars are so realiable now there is no need for a full delivery check. Hmmm.

My car was delivered with a chip in the rear alloy wheel (now replaced, although they wanted to refurb it first of all - no chance I said!), and with DAB not working. I will be writing to the BMW GB MD, reference the dealer comments on PDI. Quite what my £500 delivery charge covers I don't know.

That doesn't mean the car isn't checked before it leaves the factory. Mercedes do a 30 minute full systems test on every car that comes off the line including a rolling road and water spray booth, and also take a random sample from the line and take them round the test track. No doubt BMW do something similar, so perhaps something happened in transit, or perhaps there is no DAB signal at the factory to test against. Dealers don't have to do much nowadays except remove the delivery wax, fill out the registration paperwork and fit the numberplates (and take their cut obviously ).

A PDI still covers setting and testing all the on board toys...You have to delete transport mode to wake the units up so it forces you to check them.
Think the Dealer are telling some porkies.
You should be able to pass by and someone set it up/check it out for you....
