528i clutch judder

Had the car for 6 weeks now and in traffic i'm getting a bad judder when accelerating from stationary
but not all the time! if I give the a good shoeing along the motorway for a few miles the problem goes away for a
day or two. The clutch doesn't slip at all. All I can surmise is there is an oil leak onto the clutch face
or when it gets hot it just warps or something like that
Any ideas would be appreciated. Also if the clutch does need doing what sort of costs are we looking at
and can anyone recommend anyone in the Manchester/Bolton area that could do the job.

Mine ('99 528i) does this, although I wouldn't call it "bad". I find that giving it beans helps; if I'm going down my street (where kiddies and pets abound) I just slip the clutch a little bit until it smoothes out. The clutch has done 67K, so is probably ready for a refresh.

It's also definitely more noticeable when the car is cold - but as you say, it doesn't happen all the time.

ETA: Last time I asked about a clutch at my local specialist, it was about six hundred all done (unless my memory is failing, and I'm confusing this with a gearbox rebuild).
