E36 convertible...what to look for?

Hi

My first post so be cool! I'm starting out on a ladder that's hopefully going to take me on a whole lot of fun with a whole lot of BM's. I've started with an E36 318i coupe, a bit gutless and completely stock appart from M3 wheels, but it's been a great car. Reliable, great for long missions and really good fun in the twisty bits.

Now I'm ready for a change. As I live by the sea and like the sun when it occasionally shines I'm going for a convertible. I've seen a couple so far, am looking to spend 5K max and wondered if you've got any advice. I know a little of what to look for, clonks with suspension, brakes, electrics etc but that's where it ends....

What should I look out for in a old BM without a lid?

There's a 328i for sale near to me, for under £2k. I'm struggling to see what's wrong. I've not seen it (yet), but am tempted. As I am by a few of his cars and some really low prices.

Agreed - but with 106k+ on the clock, I would have expected the Nikasil issue to have raised its head by now.

Although it does say 11 stamps on the book - but it doesn't say 11 MD stamps on the book.
