e39 sliding armrest!

If you have a sliding armrest with a BMW phone installed in it does it just slide or does it also tip up to reveal a cubby tray underneath?

It just slides - no cubby space.

Its an utterly rabbish armrest, I have no idea why it moves forwards. It gets in the way of the handbrake when you do and does nothing! Bewildered!
