First time buyer secondhand BMW

Hi, I'm looking to buy something like a 93-95 325i Coupe for about 2000.
Ideally I'd like as many extras as possible ie. leather, computer etc.
I've never had a BM before, I'm not someone who works on cars, but I am not a complete idiot with mechanical/technical things. So I was wondering what things to look out for or at least make sure are fixed or things I should just run away from if i see.

Any advice will be appreciated. I'm not looking to mod the car I just want a nice clean sound car.

Nice clean sound cars, are the easiest to spot, but the hardest to find. I assume you will be buying privately at that money.

Buy it from nice sensible people at a proper address, and you will be halfway there.

So is the 325i a good choice?
I personally prefer a larger engine for smooth driving (used to have a Camaro Z28) as I'm too old to worry about beating someone from the lights lol
Are there any real differences between the 320 and the 328 in terms of reliability or niggles (fuel consumption is not really a concern)? I'm looking at manual petrol as well, as I heard the autos can be more expensive if repairs needed.

Think you'll struggle to get a decent 328 for that money, the 325 is a strong old beast though and lovely with the manual box as it realy does sing its way round the rev counter.
E36 coupé is a lovely car to drive too.

Chances are you'll see a dozen stters before you find a good one though, people are very bad at accurately describing their cars...
