Morning Guys,

I said I'd put this posting up for a colleague.

He's looking to buy a new 330d or maybe 325d touring.

1- With the current offer that BMW has on, the upgrade for £1k which include leather, SAT nav etc, do think it's likely to still negotiate 7%+ off the car?

2- Finance... I've never financed a car always a personal loan so I can't help him with this. How much are we speaking a month for a 330d & 325d.. I know it depends on specification but approx? He has around £7-£8k as a deposit, but does that mean if looses that deposit when he hands the car back? What if he takes another BMW?

Don't know about the first but on the second a rough rule of thumb is 200 pounds per month for every 10k of finance. i.e. a 30k car with minimal deposit on a PCP type ballon scheme will likely weigh in around 600ppm unless there are special offers.

If he's looking at the BMW select scheme yes he will lose the deposit because it's a red herring to call it a deposit. It is a chunk of money used to reduce the monthly payments so in his case using the rule of thumb above putting 8k in will likely bring his monthly payment down to about 440/450 per month. BMW are typically conservative with their guaranteed values at end of contract so he'll probably find he has a grand or a touch more to put into the next car but really if he puts any more deposit in he won't get it back because it has been spread across the period of the contract to reduce the monthly. Make sense?
