Hi There,
Hope someone can give me some advice please

I have recently brought a 55plate 320d 130k FSH
Last Sunday the engine went into limp mode but has since been running ok
I took the car into BMW for adiagnostic check and they advised the fault code is;

4191 Charge-air pressure actuator (occured 6 times since Monday when codes where read and reset by my local garage)

Which they say is Boost pressure actuator sticking and requires a new turbo

Following some real eye openers on here, I have this morning cleaned the EGR and replaced the turbo breather - Should I try and look elsewhere to remedy my problem or bite the bullet and replace the Turbo?

I brought the car from a dealer only a month ago so this could be covered under his 3 month warranty?

Many thanks

If it came from a stealer then you should have a warranty although at 130k it wont be under BMW approved used cars-so was it a trade sale or another stealer other than BM?
on a 55 plate you may either have an EU3 derv or EU4 depending on the build date.
The EU4 had an electronic turbo actuator,if this is the case you will need a new one.
The EU3 was a vacuum actuated turdo, the likely fault with this is going to be the pipes from the turbo to the acummilator and from there over the engine and under the manifold to the distributuin pipe. Also on the EPDW valve (close to turbo)is a black rectangle about 15mmx10mm this is a filter and blocks up at high miles-this will stop the turbo operating.it can be a sod to remove!

To tell the difference-if on the drivers side of the engine bay there is a black canister (size of a coke can) with thin black pipes either end then thats EU3...You will also see blue pipes down by the turbo which lead to a valve.

Forza,
Is your suggestion the same as the turbo pressure convertor? If so, cleaning this is my next task.
I brought the car from a dealer 50miles away and it carries the obligatory 3 month warranty. If its a quick fix I would rather sort myself, particularly as the fault is intermittent so I might struggle convincing him to shell out?
Thanks for the tip
I dont know if my car is EU3 or 4 but will look tomorrow. It was 1st reg 1/1/5
