Bloody hell I now the E30 is classed as one of the best handling cars of it time, But you have to watch this video to believe it.

Nice find thats one well set up bmw i don't think there is many yellow cgt in the uk.

Great video mate, but your comment on it being a great handling car is right, but not compared to a new supercar. No way.

Even with the trickest suspension, an e30 front engined car is not going to outhandle a mid engined supercar from present day. Its alot more down to the driver in this video than the car. End of.

There is a video on the tube somewhere of an elis staying with a veyron on track, onyl due to him nailing it round the bends as the veyron driver backs right off, only for the veyron to pull a MASSIVE gap on the straights vice versa but lap in lap out there together. The veyron driver not really wanting to stuff 800+k into the barrier where as mr elise is giving it death.

We all know the Veyron would mash the elise on any given track with the same driver doing a lap in each with no regard to cost or safety.

Same with this video, even if the bi-turbo e30 is 600+bhp it may be faster in a straightline but will not out handle a CGT!

I fully understand what you are saying, and I agree, I just amazed an E30 could get anywhere near a GT.

I would'nt be so sure. VW sent a Veyron and their works test driver to a meeting at Prescott hillclimb last year. I can't remember exact timings off hand but with the driver having admitted to giving it the beans, it didn't do a particularly fantastic time.

EDIT: Veyron's best time was 46 seconds. 2 Litre Modifired Production class record is 46.35, so about as quick as a well sorted Evo.

Tight twist track i presume, a 1.9 ton veyron is not really built for such events.

Tack both said cars to monza and see what happens!

First you say on "any given track" then turn back and say it has to be a big fast circuit like Monza. Prescott is fairly tight, but power is still important.

The driver at prescott? was he the owner of the veryon number one?

number two, some one in a competition will push far harder than someone taking a road car around whether it be there own car or not, its still 850k+ compared to what a 30k+ competition car!!

Forget hill climbing, silverstone, monza, Nurburgring.. ETC, the veyron will be faster than an elise.

Handling is nothing to do with the age of a car nor its ability to lap a circuit fast. Roadholding is what I assume you are talking about.

No, as i said, he is the works test driver and was using a VW press car.

What you're getting at is that the faster the average speed of the circuit, the more advantage power gets you.
