Help : E30 Touring

Hello there
I've been looking for a quick estate to replace my T-Req Peugeot 306 TDI which although is a good car, is flipping slow.
I am thinking of a 325i Touring (on about a K/L registration)
I've got a couple of roadtests on the way and it looks a great car but if anyone can point me in the direction of more information, performance figures, what to look for etc. I'd sure appreciate it.
The other alternative is a 318 Touring or possibly a 320/323.
My budget is about £3000.

Regards a late E30 325i Touring from what i see around they seem to be very rare and a large amount are automatics (most tend to be 316i/318i Lux Models) and good ones are very thin on the ground (though your budget of £3k is sensenisible to buy a very good one)

by 320i / 323i I'm presuming you mean the later E36 model? If thats the case I'd forget the 320i and be looking at maybe a 328i (320i though 24v in the E36 is still not that rapid though a sweet engine that likes revs)
E30 or E36? well good E30's are getting collectable and depreciation will be low or non existent, parts are pretty cheap and I'd say they are more reliable than the E36 though they are of course getting on in years now.
Pre 1999 E36 323i/328i you need to be seeing proof of a replacement engine fitted by BMW due to nickasil(sp) issues that are well documented, E36 Touring has a pretty shape that is not too dissimilar from the E46 so still looks fresh

They do look pretty smart. When my E36 was in for work at Beemer Redeemer, they lent me their rather knackered E30 318 Touring for the day. even though the interior was a mess, the chassis was fantastic, it drove so well.
