E36 320i - where's the ECU?

Got this in ATM:

Apparently it's got a superchip in it and the previous owner has included the original chip. I'm thinking the superchip may be worth something on Ebay, if only I can find the ECU!

N/S of engine bay behind fuse board is a black panel in the baulk head(under black sound proofing)its held in by several 7mm headed screws.It is a pain to get at!

Thanks for that Stu, would never have thought of looking there. Sure was a pain to get too, but even more more of a pain to take apart to recover the chip.

There's no brand name on the chip, but it definitely increased performance compared to the original. I'm wondering how to list it on an Ebay advert, if I just put 'performance engine chip' in the title people will think it's just one of those crappy 10p resistors.

Not if you dont advertise it as such. Show a picture. Anyone after such a chip will realise what one/make it is etc and buy it, just explain the company name has rubbed off and that you have little experiance of such items.

Mmm, good idea. Was thinking of putting, "superchips style performance engine chip" in the listing title, that way they can't get annoyed that it's not a real Superchip (it may well even be, but it just doesn't say on the chip)
