Cigarette lighter socket doesn't work in my Z4

Hi guys,

The cigarette lighter socket doesn't seem to work in my Z4 (53 plate). I cannot charge my sat nav (Tom Tom), or mobile through it. The lightter doesn't work either - it doesn't pop back up when pushed in.

Any ideas what's wrong and how to fix it?

My 3 year old dropped a 1p piece into mine, blowing the fuse. Easy to fix the fuse, the 3 year old still requires extensive work to rectify the problem...

another vote for fuse. it'll only pop when it's heated, so if it's not heating it won't pop.

Fuse - sounds promising. Where can I find the fuse and it just a simple case of swapping it out? Also, where can I get a replacement fuse?

replacement wise, petrol station, halfords, motor factors, anywhere really just don't go and get ripped off by a dealer.

no idea where it is on the Z4's, but it'll tell you in the owners handbook. at a guess maybe one under the bonnet and at a guess one under the dash somewhere, but I've not a clue.

there should be a load of spare fuses in little holders in the fuse box - at least there are in my Z3...

Thanks for the tips guys - the fuse it was.

For future reference for others, the manual shows how to get to the fuse grid via the glove compartment, where you can also find the required diagram. In the boot I found a packet with a few spare fuses and a tool to help remove them from the grid.
