Not quite explaining myself clearly methinks 
I've 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear on my Sport, and have a spare set of wheels.
Seeing as the spare fronts are in V good condition, I was toying with putting them on the rear on mine, and seeing if the back end is a little more playful, rather than as is on its 245 rears.
As far as the heatshield, I mean the heatshield that runs the length of the underbody, and always seems to fall off on E36's after a while. Mines on its last legs, and I dont fancy £300 just for something not necessarily needed...
My mate took the heat shield of his E36 because it came loose, when he went to the dealer to get a new one he was quoted £140 just for the parts 
he ran it the next 18 months without one with no problems.
Best bet is just to bolt it back up with some bigger washers like caboosemoose said.

I've done the huge washers trick and its now completely FUBAR'd (a spin into the grass at VMax may, or may not, have finished it off 
)...
Will check with Forza_West when I see him, however was just wondering whether anyone else has done it?

as thats essentially what I'm doing - running 225/45/17 all round...(Michelin Pilot Sport 2's are a boat load cheaper in this size...)...

(Although I would have thought they would be the same but worth checking).
I had 225/45 on the front and ran 235/40 on the rear and the traction control would go off in a straight line over 70 leptons. It would also come in when doing 40+ round any corner!!
Other than than that fill your boots!! Justhad the 245 PS2's replaced so am having to be sensible again for a while as they aren't cheap!!

Maybe so, but at the price I got them at, they're a steal (£60 each).However just managed to aqquire a set of 245/40/17 Pilot Sport 2's off the Bay of E for £85 delivered, so I'll destroy those instead methinks!
Either way, the Marshall KU17's I've run for ages have been ace, but are nigh on £180 for a pair, just like most 245/40/17's - hence my query
