E39 528 for £3100 vs E39 535 £2200 - opinions

I'm looking at getting a 528 MY2000, I've been offered one with FSH for 3100 gbp with FSH. Leather interior, no parking sensors otherwise looks fairly decent.
I've also been offered a 535 MY1999, this one is 2200 gbp with FSH on 114k

Reliability and economy are both concerns - which is the 'better' buy ?

I had a 535 - terrible "economy"! About 17mpg average, got up to about 27mpg on motorways. Also had a few niggly things go wrong - wheel sensors, dead pixels in dash - all the usual things you read about for the E39 basically. I'd be inclined to go with the 528 as performance is fairly similar to the 535 and in theory you should get better mpg, be it auto or manual.

I`m stewing over a 2001 530i fsh every opion bar tele 198k for 3k

Dont know wether to take the plunge.

Sounds good except for the mileage - htough that may not be an issue on the 530

I just picked up the 528 100k miles, 2000 model for a very reasonable price - happy bargeing
It's a minter as well - looks like the interior is untouched, everything works and FSH to boot. Not the cheapest but a bit of a bargain in preperation for £400 per annum road tax for post 2001 cars. Seems good to me, I've been told I can expect a smidge over 30 mpg at motorway speeds which sounds reasonable
